How to manually fix the SP3 Text Legacy Reports bug

When upgrading from an earlier release of SI5 to Service Pack 3, users may get an error message when attempting to open the reporting interface (D-Tools > Reports) from Text: "Error in Text. Automation Error."

This document describes how to manually fix this problem in the event that the published hotfix causes the client to lose contact with the server.

Case 1: SP3 installed but hotfix not run yet

1. Log on to SI5 to ensure that a connection to the server is established
2. Close SI5
3. Run the hotfix (click here for instructions)
4.
Navigate to this folder:
    (XP) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\D-Tools\SI5
    (Vista) C:\ProgramData\D-Tools\SI5
5. Copy the SystemIntegrator.Navigator.exe.config.backup file
6. Paste the file to the install directory for si5
    (C:\Program Files\D-Tools\SI5 by default)
7. Move, delete, or rename the existing SystemIntegrator.Navigator.exe.config file
    found in the install directory
8. Rename the SystemIntegrator.Navigator.exe.config.backup file to

SystemIntegrator.Navigator.exe.config
9. Open SI. The user should be prompted to log in again. Confirm that the correct
server is preselected in the drop down list on the log in prompt.

Case 2: SP3 and hotfix already installed

1. Close SI5
2.
Navigate to this folder:
    (XP) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\D-Tools\SI5
    (Vista) C:\ProgramData\D-Tools\SI5
3. Copy the SystemIntegrator.Navigator.exe.config.backup file
4. Paste the file to the install directory for si5
    (C:\Program Files\D-Tools\SI5 by default)
5. Move, delete, or rename the existing SystemIntegrator.Navigator.exe.config file found in the install directory
6. Rename the SystemIntegrator.Navigator.exe.config.backup file to SystemIntegrator.Navigator.exe.config
7. Open SI. The user should be prompted to log in again. Confirm that the correct server is preselected in the drop down list on the log in prompt.

If the steps above fail, you will have to uninstall and reinstall the app. After you have re-installed, perform the SP3 update and follow the steps 1-9 in the first scenario above.
